Lawn Care Tips To Induce Lawn Envy

There are a few keys things you can do to get your lawn ready for the summer months. These are some tips very generously shared with us by our friends at Roberts Turf:

  • WATER - Even if we’ve had great rainfall lately, if there has been a lack of rain make sure you give your lawn a drink as it is a plant just like any other in your garden, and will generally not thrive on neglect. Did you know that infrequent, deep watering promotes a healthy lawn rather than regular, shallow watering? Over watering encourages excessive growth, disease and root rot.
  • FERTILISE - Spring is a great time to fertilise and get your lawn in top shape so it survives the hot summer months. Ideally, try to fertilise when we are expecting showers as opposed to a storm. Heavy rain will not only wash away the fertiliser (which is money down the drain) but also pollute our waterways! Save it for a day of 'light showers' or simply water it in with a hose or sprinkler
  • WEED CONTROL - Now is a great time to get rid of weeds before Summer hits and they take over. Check with your local garden center for the correct product to use on your particular lawn.
  • MOWER MAINTENANCE - Prepare now for the work out your mower will be getting over Summer. A well maintained mower with sharp blades ensures a beautiful manicured lawn. Spring is an ideal time to get your mower serviced and blades sharpened.
