We are so lucky to live on the Sunshine Coast, with our glorious beaches and perfect weather. And for that reason, many of us find ourselves inundated with guests during the festive season.
It is hectic enough at this time of year without feeling enslaved to our garden, so here are some very quick and easy tips to get you yard ready for visitors.
-
Green Up Your Lawn - Make sure it is neatly mown and the edges are kept trimmed. If it is looking brown in patches, a quick hit of fertiliser and some regular water will help to make it look lush and even.
-
Get Rid Of Rubbish - That job that everyone puts off, but makes such a huge difference to the look, feel and energy of your garden once it is done. Old plastic pots, kids toys or play equipment that has been left abandoned and has seen better days, that rusty old wheelbarrow or BBQ that no longer earns it's keep - get rid of them!
-
Clean Up Furniture - We do not all have the budget (nor inclination) to dash out and buy all new garden furniture. But this is a great time to give your garden furniture a really good clean up. A pressure cleaner will not only bring most furniture up a treat, but it will also get rid of cobwebs and spiders.
-
Prune - Give your plants a good prune, dead head the agapanthus and any other flowering plants that have had their moment. Everything will look tidier, and your plants will stay healthier as well.
-
Pots Of Colour - Give your outdoor areas a quick hit of instant colour with potted plants. You don't have time for seedlings to grow at this stage, so dot around pots of intense colour (combine them with candles or solar fairy lights at night) for a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
-
Mulch - And last (but certainly by no means least), mulch! It locks in moisture, and suppresses weeds, so you don't have to spend your Christmas season breaking your back to pull them out. You can check out our range of mulches here.
